It’s a busy summer here at LCPC with lots of changes, preparations and exciting developments to look forward to. We continue to be open and engaged in our primary task – providing a professional counselling service to the local community which is both responsive to client’s financial situation and is provided within a very short space of time from initial enquiry – and we are delighted to be able to continue our commitment to this ethos through face to face and online counselling. We have a growing team of therapists who are all dedicated to providing a high quality psychodynamic counselling service.
We are excited to be evolving into a Community Interest Company and we hope that we can continue to grow through attracting funding to support our low cost work.
The training courses also continue to grow and evolve with our 5th cohort about to start on their professional counselling training in September. From next year we have expanded the Diploma to include a third year, ensuring that our students and graduates remain well placed to enter the counselling profession, which currently is itself evolving. A one year Certificate in Counselling and a Diploma in Supervision are exciting additions to our training program.
We were delighted to hold our first graduation ceremony for our first two cohorts recently at Prana Cafe – it was an amazing night to celebrate the achievements of ten former students, all of whom are engaged in paid work, as well as to recognise the huge contribution they and other volunteers have had in the growth of LCPC. We are extremely proud of all of their achievements and wish them well for their careers. Cohort 3 have recently completed their teaching, while Cohort 4 are two terms in and working hard.
We continue to be cautious over Covid and are keeping up with our monitoring and cleaning procedures at the Centre. We are open to face to face sessions with some restrictions still in place, and will keep our capacity for online work. The teaching remains face to face and we thank all of our clients and students for their cooperation over this uncertain time.
